Text Box:

practices

1) Participation over performance.  We go against the flow of our culture that is mesmerized by celebrities.  We pursue the participation of many instead of putting the focus on a few.

2) Mission over comfort.  Just as Jesus was sent, so His followers are sent.  We seek opportunities to get out into our world.  We want to influence our neighborhood with Christ’s inexhaustible hope.

3) Prayer over everythingDietrich Bonhoeffer said, “Where a people prays, there is the church, and where the church is there is never loneliness.”

goals

1) Knowing God better.  God wants you to know Him and has made it possible for you to know Him.  The way to do that is by …

2) Exploring the Bible.  The 66 books of the old and new testaments accurately record God’s revelation of Himself to His creation.  As you explore the Bible you’ll have the opportunity to begin ...

3) Entering true community.  You weren’t created to live a lonely life.  You were created for relationship with God as your heavenly Father, and for relationship with other people.  As you experience authentic community you will discover a desire for …

4) Taking God’s healing and hope out into a world damaged by evil, oppressed by injustice, and suffering from selfishness.  God plans to recreate the earth.  That recreation is currently proceeding one person at a time.  With Jesus’ return it’ll be universally completed.

Our goals swirl around connecting with God and with people—

message

To philosophers of the 1st Century, a Christian wrote: “The Creator of the world and everything in it doesn’t need us, as if He couldn’t take care of Himself.  He makes the creatures we didn’t create Him.

“Starting from scratch God made the entire human race with plenty of time and space for living so we might seek Him and find Him.  God’s not remote, He’s near!  We live and move in Him.  As poets have said, ‘We’re the God-created.’

“Since we are the God-created, we should not think the concept of God is a human idea.  In the past He overlooked such ignorance, but that time is past.  The unknown is now known.  He’s calling for a life-change and has set a day when the human race will be judged and everything set right.  God has already appointed the judge, confirming Him to everyone by raising Him from the dead.”  —Acts 17

God is near, we live and move in Him. He’s calling you to radical life-change.
