tyranny of human law

human preoccupation with personal advantage

Everyone did as he saw fit.  —Judges 21.25

Sound familiar?  These words summarize the cultural disintegration

documented in the Old Testament book of Judges.

Through Moses, God had given His people life-giving laws.  When

trouble came, God repeatedly raised up leaders—called Judges—from

among the people.  Yet the people of Israel preferred to live like the people

around them, adopting practices common to their world, choosing human law over divine Law.

Today, the West has abandoned the laws of God and replaced them with human law.  While our law-makers claim that man-made laws are more just and compassionate, they invariably become both complex and unfair.

Regardless of who writes the laws, human law leads to tyranny.  That’s what the people of Israel discovered during the time of the Judges.  And that’s what we’re discovering today.

Join us as we analyze the tyranny of human law and explore how such tyranny can be overcome by the life-giving justice via the law of love.

surprising statements about Jesus

Isaac Hayes  Musician/Songwriter

Jesus means salvation for mankind.  That's why He was here.  He walked the earth, He interacted with human beings on this planet, and He left an everlasting mark.  And He was sacrificed, as the Book goes, and He's a symbol of salvation and hope.

Michelle Akers  Women's World Cup Champion

My tribute to Jesus and the most powerful part of my faith and relationship with Christ is the daily hope and purpose that He gives me.  And without Him, the soccer and the awards and all the stuff that comes with the celebrity of being a professional athlete mean nothing.  For me to have Him in my life on a daily basis, whether I'm accepting an award or a trophy, or battling through the toughest parts of my life, gives everything meaning and purpose and provides the hope for me to endure and persevere like a champion.

Larry King Talk Show Host

As a Jew I have had nothing but the greatest and most profound respect for Jesus Christ of Nazareth.  He was, after all, Jewish--born Jewish, died Jewish. … The late James Pike was a guest on one of my shows once and I asked him that he sounded almost Jewish when he spoke and he said, "I am Jewish. All Christians are Jewish. Many of us forget it."  I think Jesus Christ was the greatest single individual of both millenniums and He had more profound effect on mankind than any individual ever born.  If there's one person in history I would like to interview, it would be Jesus.
