deadly freedom

Twenty-one killed this week in a Texas school; a dozen more shot and wounded.

Six shot in a church in California the previous week.

Ten killed in a mall in Buffalo that same week.

Many demand something, anything be done. I want a solution. Solutions require an accurate definition of the problem. There’s a reason so many demand “something” be done. Doing something allows for action without having to define anything.
Perhaps guns should be outlawed—at least rapid-fire “assault rifles”. Let’s debate amending the Constitution. When the 2nd amendment was written only marksmen could get off three shots in a minute. Today’s technology empowers even the inept to fire three rounds in a second.

Editing the 2nd amendment may not solve our problem.

In 1920 the 18th amendment prohibited “the processing, moving, and selling of intoxicating alcohol.” Prohibition was so effective that 14 years later the 21st amendment deleted the 18th amendment.

The Constitutional prohibition of alcohol failed to eliminate liquor. But it succeeded in making criminals of millions of law-abiding citizens. And resulted in a decade of violence.

People who sincerely believe gun-ownership can be outlawed are as naive as those who believed liquor could be outlawed.

The problem is our human condition. The contagion is our cultural rejection of the laws of nature and the laws of God.

Both transgenderism and homosexuality contradict natural evolution, which identifies reproduction as the purpose of every species. They also contradict every major religion. They contradict the
teachings of Christ.

Murder violates the natural human desire for life. Although human sacrifice was found in many pagan religions, murder violates every world religion and Christ’s teaching, as well as western philosophy.

Yet, our culture now accepts threats of murder in political debate, thanks to the anonymity of social media.
303 Creative has received multiple death threats because she refused to create a website for a same-sex marriage.

The Bible identifies a non-material force whose goal is to pull God’s creation back into chaos. Death is its weapon. It recruits lost humans.

Our culture claims we don’t need God’s law and can avoid natural law; people can define good and evil for themselves. It’s not working. Lost people are being groomed for evil. Innocent people are being killed. Chaos is descending.
